When our dogs' ancestors wanted a snack, they didn't have big box pet stores and large pet food companies to go to - and thankfully so! Their food was simple, natural, clean, and what their canine bodies needed. Yup, imagine that - no artificial dyes, odd protein sources, distantly sourced ingredients, by-products, sugars, fillers, or artificial preservatives ... That's why we started Boris's Barn Bites - to get our dog back to eating like a dog should! No more bone-shaped biscuits or rubbery 'God-knows-what-that's-from' treats.

We realized that a more simple, natural diet was what was needed for Boris, our German Shepherd (& farm head of security, therapist, personal assistant, best friend, babysitter, door man, and four-legged child). Our boy loves his natural diet - and is healthier, stronger, and we'd argue - happier as a result of it.

We want to help bring your dog back to eating like a canine should... and that's why all of Boris's Barn Bites are:

• Locally Sourced and Produced - Each of Boris's Barn Bites is sourced from only locally raised, USDA grade livestock. Your dog won't get a snack made from an animal that wasn't raised in the state of Connecticut. 
  • We partner with over almost two-dozen mom & pop farms across the state to give your dog access to local, premium, and very fresh meat. These are small, family-owned farms, where the livestock raised are treated with care and respect. We want happy & healthy dogs, so we only work with farmers who have happy & healthy stock. 
  • Locally raised and produced = smaller carbon footprint. Why buy dog snacks (or meat in general) from Texas, California, or Oklahoma when we have it right here! 
    • There are over 14,000 beef cows & 6,000 sheep in Connecticut - there's more than enough for every dog (and owner)!
      
  • And that's what sets us apart from the competition - you know the source, you know the quality, and you know it's supporting a farming family, not some group of executives from Sysco or Costco... 
• 100% Raw Single-Ingredient- We don't change what God made already perfect. The snacks we make are 100% single-ingredient.  No dyes, no fillers - nothing, but fresh, grass-fed goodness. 
  • Our Freeze-drying process is a multi-day, and multi-step small-batch process which removes almost all the moisture from the treats. This keeps in all the beneficial nutrients, helps prevent bacterial growth, and makes a very shelf stable dog snack. 
  • This process is exponentially better than dehydrating! Freeze Drying doesn't denature the proteins in the meat like dehydration does - keeping the meat as beneficial as when it was processed. 
  • Got a pup who doesn't want to crunch? Just add some water and our snacks go back to a more natural texture. 
• Nutritional and Healthy - From supporting vision, cardiovascular health, energy, cognitive function, detoxification, and of course, a strong immune system - raw livestock organs are a great (and tasty!) choice for dogs.
